The Varsity Basketball team defeated the Foundation Academy Lions on Senior Night last Friday 76-53. Seniors Robby Allen and Griffin Hilgenfeldt were honored prior to the game for their contributions throughout their seven-year Laker basketball careers. Fanbo Zeng earned 21 points for the Lakers, including a few thunderous dunks. Fellow freshman Jayden Williams tallied 19 points. The Varsity team will play Melbourne High School at the Amway Center on Tuesday at 1:00 pm. Good luck, Lakers!

The JV team had a busy week playing five games and winning four! The Lakers earned a spot in the Championship game of the Seminole High School JV tournament on Saturday before falling to Seminole. Well done, Lakers!

The Freshman team concluded their season by playing five games last week and finishing with the Seminole High School Freshman tournament. The Lakers won two of those games, beating Lake Highland Prep and Lake Mary High School. The team demonstrated great promise throughout the season!

The Middle School GOAC Basketball tournaments were held last week. The 8th grade team had an unblemished 11-0 record in GOAC play entering the championship game. TFA came into the game as the #2 seed in the GOAC. The game was back-and-forth throughout with TFA scoring with under a minute to go to win the game by two points. It was a heartbreaking loss for the team, but an incredible season for these boys. Great work, Lakers!

The 7th grade team made the semifinal of the GOAC Playoffs vs. Lake Highland Prep. It was a close game throughout but Lake Highland ultimately won by two, 28-26. The 7th grade team had a great season finishing tied for second place in regular season GOAC play. Way to go, Lakers!

The 6th grade team advanced to the GOAC Championship game by defeating TFA by one point in the semifinal game. In the championship, the Lakers faced Trinity Prep who raced out to a 12-2 lead as the Lakers struggled to get going offensively. In the 3rd quarter, the Lakers made a furious comeback to take the lead. However, Trinity Prep made one final push to win the GOAC Championship by three points. We are so proud of all of the Laker Middle School teams and their impressive seasons, making two GOAC championship games and another semifinal. The future of Laker basketball is bright!
