Girls Soccer off to Hot Start!
The Girls Soccer program got off to a great start in the opening week of the season. The Varsity team posted two wins beating Legacy Charter 7-0 and All Saints Academy 8-1. Nine different players scored for the Lakers – Courtney Mogauro tallied five goals, Bel Teixiera and Megan Ikeda each had two goals, and Manuela Zarrate, Giselle Torres, LeAnne Diab, Silvana Lopez, Emily Whitt, and Gaby Azumbuja each contributed a goal. Goalkeeper Sarah Hudgins posted five saves and recorded the shut-out against Legacy. The JV team opened up against Windermere High School and fought hard losing 2-0. The defense, led by Alessandra Cuadrado and goalkeeper Emerson Hilgenfeldt who posted some big saves to keep the Lakers in the game, held strong. The Middle School team also had a strong showing in the opening week with a 5-0 win on the road against Orangewood Christian. Camila Barni scored four goals and Kendall Rosanski added the fifth. Goalkeeper Jasmine Goyarrola played strong, posting two key saves for the Lakers. They then traveled to Trinity Prep and came away with a 2-2 tie. Ella Goosen and Camila Barni scored for the Lakers on assists from Camila Barni and Kendall Rosanski.
This week, the Varsity team is on the road on Thursday against district opponent Trinity Prep while the JV team travels to Mount Dora High School on Tuesday. The Middle School Lakers are back in action on Monday against Forest Lake Academy following this week’s Global Games. Let’s go, Lakers!
