Middle School Football Defeats Orlando Christian Prep!
The Laker Middle School Football played host to Orlando Christian Prep in what would prove to be a challenging and physical contest. It was a tale of two halves as OCP quickly capitalized on Laker miscues to take an early 8-0 lead. WPS regrouped and got their potent offense and defense firing and scored 20 unanswered points before halftime. Offensively, the Lakers were paced by 7th Grader Cayman Robertson, who tallied his first touchdown of the season from QB Mason Williams. Williams also ran one in for a score himself, and 8th Grader Alex Nabavi ran in the Lakers’ third TD of the game. 8th Grader Jackson Bennett ran in a successful 2-point conversion. The second half became a spirited defensive struggle where the Lakers had to dig in to preserve victory by the final score of 20 – 14. This impressive win moves the Lakers to 2-0! The team hits the road this week to play Zephyrhills Christian in the rematch of last season’s SSAC Championship game. Go Lakers!
