The Laker Track and Field Team continued their season last weekend at the Jeff Wentworth Relays at The First Academy. The Men’s 4×800 relay team of Jackson Roth, Andrew Caylor, Justin Kirtland, and Andrew Hammer placed 4th, improving on their season best by three seconds. Roberto Salamo continued his excellent senior season by placing 4th in the 100m. He also teamed up with Zuhaib Khan, Zavien Williams, and Andrew Hammer to place 5th in the 4×400 relay. Finally, Roth and Caylor were joined by Aidan Sakata and Antonio Scaramuzza to place 8th in the distance medley relay. The Girls team participated in two meets this weekend competing in both the Jeff Wentworth Relays and the Eagle Classic at Montverde Academy on Saturday. While almost the entire team competed on Friday evening at the Wentworth Relays, Lauren Isbel, Shanthi Ramakrishna, and Mirabella Miranda competed in both events! It is very difficult to compete in meets on back-to-back days, and these athletes served very strong performances in the 4×100m relay, the 100m, the 1600m, and the high jump between the three. The Lakers are back in action next Saturday at the Brian Jaeger Classic in Winter Park.

The first Middle School GOAC Track Meet of the season was one for the record books. For the first time ever, the Boys team finished in first place, beating Trinity Prep by 33 points!
