Girls Soccer Finishes as SSAC State Runner-Up!

WPS Girls Varsity Soccer Team—CONGRATS on Finishing as SSAC State Runners Up!
The varsity girls soccer team team had very busy but amazing week of soccer. The team opened up with a 8-0 victory against Victory Christian on Monday. Arianna Bergner scored 3 goals for the Lakers and Angeline Bergner, Manoela Costa, Gaby Azambuja, Silvana Lopez and Bel Teixeira each added a goal.

The team then took on strong district opponent Lake Highland Prep at home and came away with a huge 1-0 victory. Silvana Lopez scored and Angeline Bergner assisted. Arianna Bergner recorded the shut-out in goal.

The WPS Varsity Girls Soccer Team made history by winning the Central Florida Division in the Sunshine State Athletic Conference (SSAC). The team qualified and advanced to (SSAC) Final Four!! In the State Semifinal match the team was paired against a strong FAU H.S. Team from Boca Raton. The team played great and won the State Semi Final Game with a 2-0 victory. The goals were scored by Manoela Costa and Bel Teixeira. Arianna Bergner had 5 saves in the shut-out.

The team made history and advanced to the SSAC State Championship game against Master’s Academy. In the Championship Match the game was even with both teams having opportunities. WPS ended up losing a heartbreaker 1-0, to took home the SSAC State Runner-Up Trophy. Congrats to the WPS Team as this was a historical and fantastic week!!! The team now has 13 wins and 4 losses on the year.

The team continues action on Tuesday at 3:30pm with the senior recognition game to honor our three seniors – Elisabet Palsdottir, Justyce Rivers and Georgi Taylor.

The following week the team will compete in the FHSAA Playoffs.
