The WPXC athletes were ready to shine bright and set records on an overcast morning this past Saturday at the West Orange High School Invitational. The WPS Cross-Country team saw 25 of 27 runners have personal-records! There has not been that many 5K PR’s in one meet in WPXC history!

The WPXC Varsity Boys team finished 14th place out of 30 teams with a team average of 18:26. The WPXC Varsity Girls team had their best team average as well. But the middles school runners had the most significant improvement in times. Most notably, 6th grader Madelyn Isbel saw her 5K time drop from 35:24 to her new PR of 30:57. 8th grader, Lauren Brady saw her time drop from 32:24 to 28:32!

Greater Things are happening this season with the Lakers XC team, and they are just getting started. The Lakers will next travel to Tallahassee to face the best teams in the state at the FSU Invitational. Middle School/Junior Varsity will race on Friday at 4:00 or 5:00 pm., while Varsity will compete on Saturday morning at 10:25 am. The action takes place at Apalachee Regional Park. Let’s go Lakers!
