Varsity Track Shines in Home Meet
The Windermere Prep Varsity Track team hosted a home track meet for the first time in over five years. This meet would be special to the Lakers, as they were honoring the 7 seniors on the track team.
For the meet, which also featured the athletes of Faith Christian Academy and Foundation Academy, the Lakers would find themselves outnumbered for the field events. The only WPS athlete participating in the field events would be senior Danielle Hercules, who posted a personal record in the long jump, going an impressive 14 feet 10 inches!
As for the events on the track, the Lakers would dominate. The boys of WPS would take home first place in the 100 Meter Dash (Mathews Peres, 11.79), the 800 Meter Run (Alex Pogar, 2:08.70), the 200 Meter Dash (Alex Pogar, 25.40), the 1600 Meter Run (Eric Wang, 5:30.20), and the 4×400 Meter Relay (4:08.70). The girls would also win several races, including the 100 Meter Dash (Danielle Hercules, 14.24), the 800 Meter Run (Gabriella Orlando, 2:53.91), the 200 Meter Dash (Danielle Hercules, 29.07), and the 1600 Meter Run (Gabriella Orlando, 6:21.05).
In the end, the girls would finish in first place with a total score of 31 points. Foundation finished in second with 18 points and Faith Christian came in third with 9 points. For the boys, WPS would finish second with 35 points. Foundation Academy came in first place with 58 points, and Faith Christian finished in third with 13 points.
