In what will go down as one of the most exciting games in the history of Windermere Prep Athletics, the varsity boys basketball team took home the 3A State Championship!

The game was a thriller that went back and forth the entire night. There was a total of 16 lead changes throughout the game, with tie scores at both the end of the first quarter and at halftime. Going into the fourth quarter, the Lakers would find themselves trailing by 2 points. But just like they have done all season long, the team would step up and finish the game strong.

With 2:45 left on the clock, WPS found themselves tied once again with Westminster. After working the ball around the perimeter of the court, Parker Davis stepped up and hit a three-pointer that shifted the momentum to the Lakers for the last time. Nickelberry, Davis, and Golding would all hit clutch free throws as in the final two minutes to seal the victory.

At the end of the hard-fought game, the Lakers would come out on top, with a final score of 62-58. In his last game as a Laker, Parker Davis led the way with 21 points. David Nickelberry and Xion Golding both added 15 points.

The 2015-2016 boys basketball team finishes the season 27-5, while earning District, Regional, and State Championships. Head Coach Ben Wilson was also named FACA Coach of the Year.

Congratulations to the Lakers on an outstanding, historic season!
