Professional Baseball Players to Host Camp at WPS
Professional baseball players Carlos Peña and Wil Nieves will be hosting their baseball clinic “Time it Up!” on campus at WPS on Saturday, November 21st at 10am. This 3 hour clinic will focus on the essential key to baseball – timing. Both Carlos Peña and Wil Nieves have spent over a decade playing baseball professionally, and will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the camp.

About the coaches:
Carlos Peña, a 14-year Major League veteran, hit 286 home runs and recorded 818 RBIs in his career. Carlos hit more than 25 home runs in six different seasons, including 46 in 2007 when he won the Silver Slugger Award for American League first basemen as well as the American League Comeback Player of the Year Award, breaking and setting new the single season franchise records for HRs (46), Walks (103), OBP (.411), RBI (121) and SLG which still stand today. In 2008, Carlos led the Tampa Bay Rays to their first ever postseason appearance and all the way to the World Series, also becoming the first Gold Glove Winner in franchise history. He was an American League All-Star in 2009 on his way to becoming the American League Homerun Champion with 39, also the first and only in the history of the franchise.
Wil Nieves is a professional baseball catcher who is currently a free agent. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Diego Padres, New York Yankees, Washington Nationals, Milwaukee Brewers, Colorado Rockies, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Philadelphia Phillies.
