Varsity Football Wins in Final Home Game
The Varsity Football Team won their final home game of the 2015 season. The Lakers took on Legacy Charter High School in what would become an offensive shootout that saw three different WPS QB’s throw a touchdown. The scoring opened with Junior Robert Brand connecting with Senior Yassen Aratius for a 66 yard touchdown pass. Later in the game, Junior Mitchell Darrow would complete passes of 21 yards to Aratius and a 58 yard pass to Junior Will Seelman for touchdowns. In the second half, Senior Parker Davis would complete a 50 yard touchdown pass to Will Seelman. In total the Lakers would accumulate a total of 235 passing yard on only 10 completions! The Lakers also rushed for 226 yards, with Senior Zach Heaney, Robert Brand, and Mitchell Darrow all rushing for touchdowns as well. The Lakers offense was balanced and dominant, scoring every time they touched the ball.
The defense for WPS struggled at times, giving up 423 yards to Legacy. The Eagles found most of their success through the air, throwing for an impressive 249 yards. The defense for the Lakers was lead by Senior Boldin Heistand, who had 8 tackles and sack on the day. Freshman Mathews Peres also had an impressive day, coming up with 9 tackles as well as some passes defended. In the end, the defense for Windermere came up with the stops when they needed to, and with support from the offense, came up with the win.
The Lakers final game of the season is this Friday night at Central Florida Christian Academy at 7pm. Come out and support the Laker football team as they look to close their season with one more win!
